I've been hibernating.

That and I've been contemplating a lot about where I want to go with this blog. So I've just recently rediscovered the "fashion pirate"'s blog (fashion pirate) and came across this video of hers.

It honestly made me reflect and realize the, as I quote the title, "State of Fashion Blogging". I know that I'm just a "noob" to this blogosphere but the longer I stay, I realize how much pop culture has affected the often wayward language of fashion. Everyone's so uniform it's kind of pathetic when people claim that an UK flag crop top and daisy dukes with a thin belt and Vans ensemble represent who they are. SUUURE.

What else is prevalent in the fashion blogosphere? Tall skinny girls. Chubby people who try starting blogs hardly get anywhere. Skinny girls on the other hand make it far. And since when did the dictation of fashion become influenced by body type? I mean sure Twiggy was and amazing model but that doesn't mean that every single skinny girl out there are better than what curvy girls have to offer. I don't hate skinny girls okay? I just think it's really sad how much people are so hypnotized with the mindset that you aren't beautiful if you aren't skinny.

Back then, I had really big issues with the need to become thin. It tore me up and made me do things that I wish I hadn't done. I felt really worthless back then but then I came across something that changed me (no matter how cliche it sounds): art. Yes, art, not fashion. For me, fashion falls under art but that's a different matter right now.

So it was through art that I was... saved? Yeah. And I'm talking about art in a general sense. I delved into drawing, painting, singing, dancing, acting, performing and (leading to what this blog is about) fashion. Yes, fashion is an art form. It's technically a way to express oneself and that's how I'm going to utilize fashion in this blog; as a means to express myself.

I'm going to be starting afresh. It'd be better of you guys disregard my earlier posts. Consider those as my "starting" point. It's going to be something to look back to.

I'm going to be a tad bit more serious about this fashion blogging business so look forward to it ;)

P.S. As you guys may have noticed, to symbolize my "fresh start" I've changed the title of my blog AND my url! HOW FUNKY IS THAT? Anyway, I changed it to "whimsical sailors" because I wasn't satisfied with my old url which was "whimsicalsnails". It was an inside joke that no one would probably get so I changed it to sailors as a homeage to navy inspired fashion, something I'm a fan of. So wish me luck this year, guys! :)
